Bracketology Update–Saturday, March 14, 2015

Happy Pi Day to all Earthlings and the two Martians that regularly patronize this site.  Or was that the two Martins?

We are happy to say that the Bubble has shrunk like a pin popped the core.  At most, just three teams are still hoping against all odds that they will sneak back into the field.  UCLA, Miami, and Temple are the only three teams that can move up into the last 4 in positions.  Temple is still alive for an automatic bid in the AAC.

There are still a few teams out there that can spoil a spot as an upset special.  Connecticut is in the semifinals in the AAC, and the Huskies are a home team in Hartford.  UConn eliminated Cincinnati yesterday and could very well do the same to Tulsa today.  Ryan Boatright and Rodney Purivs shot SMU out of the gym a couple weeks ago, so it would not surprise us if the Huskies win the AAC Tournament and remove one of the Last 4 In from the Dance.

Rhode Island is in the semifinals of the Atlantic 10 Tournament.  The Rams face Dayton today and if victorious, URI would face Davidson or VCU tomorrow.  There is a small chance a victory today and loss tomorrow could put the Rams on the Bubble.

Wyoming has advanced to the Mountain West Championship against San Diego St.  Should the Cowboys win tonight, they could displace Boise State and keep the MWC at three teams.  However, the Broncos are probably still safe, so a Wyoming win more than likely pops a bubble elsewhere.

What about Auburn?  Forget it!  Kentucky gives Bruce Pearl his first 20-loss season today.  How much of an upset would a War Eagle victory over Calipari, Inc. be?  Even David would bet on the modern day Goliath.  Short of the entire Blue Mist coming down with food poisoning in their pre-game meal, the Wildcats will win this game by more points than the average blood-alcohol content of their fans that will party on Lower Broadway in Nashvegas Saturday night.

The top has been altered quite a bit in the last 24 hours.  Wisconsin can now move up to a number one seed by taking the Big Ten Tournament title, coming at the expense of Duke or Virginia.  Villanova has cinched a top seed.

What about those teams fighting for one of the last spots?  Our resident two dozen plus expert Bracketologists have spoken,  Here are the Bubblers as of Saturday morning.
